For the past 2 years, we've been anxiously awaiting the construction of
our new home. Conveniently, two of the partners at the company I work
for, Edict, are also partners in building Millrace in Rochester, Michigan.
I've gotten some quizzical looks from my friends and family when they
find out that I will be living so close to the place I work. I look at
it as my chance to spend more time with my wife and drop myself down to
a walking 30 second commute!
The Millrace website is up today and the construction sign I designed is ready to be put up.
The Millrace complex includes two buildings: an office building for
Edict and 16 lofts style condos over leased office space. The property
is in downtown Rochester on the Clinton River Trail and on the river.
What really excites me is that the area is changing dramatically. Our
buildings will be located on vacant land in a light industrial
district; however, much of it will change over the next few years. The
vacant paper plant will be torn down and made into a residential area.
This is one of the last places in downtown Rochester, MI has left to clean up with space to grow.
Anyway, I'm pretty excited on how the construction is progressing.
