Back after five weeks away from weblogging.

What I learned:

1. It is possible to live without obsessively weblogging and reading the news aggregator every day, but you miss it.

2. If you go away for five weeks, you should unsubscribe from some of your 41 channels unless you just figure you'll have a couple of hours to burn while you delete all the "stuff" in your news aggregator.

3. Many bloggers make posts that are waaaaaaay too long.

4. What I missed least was all the infighting between people over the different RSS standards and tools.

5. What I missed most was being connected.

6. Trying to make recommendations about health and personal care on public discussion boards is a waste of time. The moderators leave up posts that recommend obviously harmful and foolish home remedies, and they delete posts that recommend products that can't be bought in the corner grocery. Putting the information into a story on a Radio weblog is much more effective (and people with enough intelligence to act on the recommendation can find it from search engines).

7. I really needed the time off.

8. I really needed to rethink my approach to weblogging.
