It's trivial, it's mundane, but...two straight rounds in the 80's (both 87, to be exact) deserves a mention. The golf swing feels good all of a sudden. comment []6:46:15 PM

Tonight brings home the only sad part of not traveling so much any more. The Sopranos starts a new season, and I don't have HBO. Previously, I could count on being in a hotel with HBO at least once a week and catch most of the episodes. I should probably just fork over the cash and erase the only semi-good memory of the bad old days of travel. comment []9:31:15 AM

It's pretty sad to see what has become of one of my favorites from back in the salad days, Billy Joel. The NYT reports that Joel "...just wants a girlfriend". The picture in the article says it all. (I would've put the picture in this post, but I read the NYT rules for reuse of their photos, and it's a lot of trouble). I'm not sure what the moral of this story is. So many stereotypes involved here: tortured artist; middle life crisis; the obsessive/excessive personality; not looking cool but wanting to be cool (though I think Joel turned out pretty cool-looking, after all). No matter the backstory of the song, and whatever happens to BJ, "Just The Way You Are" is still one of the best love songs ever. comment []8:58:59 AM
