Phe-ew! I Don't have to Redo all Font Tags :)

Ian Rowan writes: "You can force websites to respect your text size settings in Internet Explorer with this bit of mumbo-jumbo: Tools, Options, General, Accessibility, and check "Ignore font sizes specified on web pages." Screen shot.

Nexist Wiki

Changing the World Through the Web (Again). At the recent Extreme Markup Languages conference in Montreal, Jack Park spoke about NexistWiki. His presentation is available online. Park is in the process of building a piece of software that can be used to assist consensus development over written texts on the web, mostly on his own nickel. In the middle of an intense geek bleeding-edge-of-technology conference he said, essentially, "OK, so we do really cool stuff, and here's how I think we can use it change the world."

Run Old Software on New Hardware?

Confiscation of an Idea. Meet Evan Brown. He is a fifty year old man from Texas who has been cooking up an idea since 1975. His idea is a solution to a perennial problem in the IT sector - the need to update old mainframe computer software to run on modern computer hardware. 'Upgrade' projects like these are typically time, labor and knowledge intensive, not to mention extremely costly. Yet Evan Brown claims his 'idea' can do it almost automatically, and therefore almost effortlessly. Evan Brown is sitting on an idea that could potentially make him millions of dollars. There is only one slight problem...

We all are unique in how we chose to invest our time. - Sam Ruby

Carpe Diem.

It seems that Ray Ozzie has pulled his Innovation is the vehicle: drivers wanted.  Pity.  It was well written and made me think.

Meanwhile, Brad Wilson obsesses over crossword puzzles.  I spend the morning rewriting an Axis class for performance.  And David Watson obsesses over obsessing, triggered in part by Ray Ozzie's story, completing the somewhat strange loop and tangled hierarchies.

We all are unique in how we chose to invest our time.  Sometimes this is in ways that others consider frivilous or pointless.  Be that as it may, sometimes it is the most frivilous or pointless of activities that produce the greatest surprises.  It certainly has for me.  I now see Miguel fairly regularly (I'd point to the pictures he took at OSCON, but as near as I can tell he hasn't posted them yet).  The conference that Google selected for me?  I'm the keynote at the next one.  Mark and I not only did meet, but this has blossomed into the RTP Bloggers Club.

I won't comment further on the original article unless Ray choses to resurrect it.
