Another PragProg Gem: Woodworking

Ah, another gem from /\ndy (of Andy and Dave, the Pragmatic Programmers): The Rules of Woodworking.
  1. If it's not supposed to move, make sure it can't.
  2. If it is supposed to move, make sure it can move freely.

Sounds like a plan to me...

Another succinct analogy that really nails it (pun intended yuck, yuck). Also a nice complement to their poignant "programming is gardening" metaphor, in more ways than one.
