"The FCC has released a Public Notice concerning the implementation of CIPA following the Supreme Court's decision last week. New Study on Filtering in Schools.

"The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) and the Online Policy Group have released a study documenting the effects of Internet filtering in US schools. The study found that...[f]or every Web page correctly blocked as advertised, one or more was blocked incorrectly." [from nsls.info]

Supreme Court Upholds CIPA, CPL to filter Internet stations:

The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 yesterday to uphold CIPA. The American Library Association has this press release. The Chicago Sun Times has an article on the Chicago Public Library's reaction.

"Justices Eye Library Porn Filters. The Supreme Court hears arguments on whether Congress can force public libraries to filter out porn sites on their Internet terminals. [Wired News]" A decision is expected by July 2003.
