From PrintWriter.com:
"Creo Buys ScenicSoft. What does this mean for Preps?
On August 16, Creo announced it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire ScenicSoft, Inc., a privately held company located near Seattle. ScenicSoft develops and markets software for the publishing and printing industries, and is a pioneer in developing digital prepress solutions - particular Preps, arguably a print industry standard for imposition software. Under the terms of the agreement, Creo will acquire ScenicSoft for approximately US $9.5 million in a combination of cash, equity and an assumption of liabilities. "
I liked the guys at ScenicSoft; they took over the American distributorship of the PrintDesk product when COPS gave it up, though they had no more success with it than we did, and eventually handed it off to Ultimate Technographics.

Noted without comment department . . .
Joe Strummer, vocalist/guitarist of The Clash, turns 50 today.
Several times recently, I've heard on WSB Radio ads for Jaguar's "London Calling Sales Event", with a plummy female announcer over the original recording of The Clash's "London Calling".
The release of the LP London Calling in 1980 is now closer in time to the original release of Buddy Holly's "Peggy Sue" than to today's date.
In about half the time that's elapsed since London Calling was released, I'll be eligible for AARP membership.
