How stupid is this?. SBC appears to own the patent on framed web navigation, and they are suing to protect their patent. I really am not sure who I am more pissed off at: SBC for even trying to patent this idea and then suing to protect it, or the U.S. Patent office for granting the patent in the first place. Because Microsoft and Netscape provide the browsers to actually allow this form of navigation to happen, how is it patentable? Copyrightable maybe, but patentable? I am not a lawyer, so perhaps I just do not understand the finer points of law involved, but this sure seems like stupidity to me. [Richard Blair's Radio Weblog]
