With this release, Microsoft .NET Alerts is now implemented as a Web service.

UPDATE: A quick inspection of the .NET Alerts SGK documentation has revealed something interesting; its implementation incorporates SOAP Routing Protocol (SOAP-RP) elements in the header of outbound SOAP messages that target the Alerts Notification Service (ANS) and the Alerts Subscription Management Service (ASMS). Unfortunately, the implementation utilizes neither WS-Routing nor WSE. I wonder why...
