http://nccanch.acf.hhs.gov/

This is the National Clearing House on Child Abuse and Neglect.

It is run by the Children's Bureau, a part of the Department of Health and Human Services and it is a comprehensive compilation of information. It's a good place to start a search for specific information as it includes background on what child abuse and neglect is, prevention, reporting and investigating abuse and issues associated with abuse and neglect.

There are resources for general and professional interest as well as links to other sites to extend research on a specific topic. State specific information, for example is available on statistics, practices and child protection laws.

For some one looking for introductory information (say a student researching a paper) or detailed and advanced data (say a lawyer who wants to know the law of termination of parental rights in a neighboring state) this site is useful. It's well designed and easy to use.

Why a category about child abuse and neglect law?

Because I am a lawyer who represented abused and neglected children and
am now employed by the the Oregon State Court system to support judges
in their handling of such cases, as well as to participate in training
social workers, lawyers and judges, as well as volunteers who work on
such cases with the court. I also am involved in legislative and
administrative policy making in regard to such cases.

My work is a ministry, a calling. It is as much a part of my
spiritual walk as my prayer life and my other spiritual practices.

So it belongs.
