What goes up, must come down.

Applies to dictators, presidents, emperors, and bullets.  Reporters are wearing helmets as Iraqis celebrate by shooting into the air.

Semantics

Now the talking heads are asking if Saddam will be considered a Prisoner of War.

Silly folks -- the Bushism is 'Enemy Combatant'.  They will crate Saddam up, send him to Guantanamo, and we'll never see him again.

9:25:25 AM

President at Noon.

A conference to discuss what has happened and what will happen.  Guess we'll here if plans to bring folks home will accelerate.  There is an election, you know.

(Which reporter will ask: Where's Islama?)

9:23:47 AM

Another Canadian blog

Mike Campbell's Campblog (he's in Nova Scotia, that gives him another hour on us easterners)... provides some thoughts on reaction in Bagdad.

8:47:45 AM

A moment of reconciliation

Blair just issued a statement that one could have mistaken for a Thanksgiving message.  Bottom line, we got the bum, now let's everyone learn to live together.

8:40:50 AM

Checking Georgia Bloggers:

Discount blogger was up before me and already has a running commentary.

8:39:49 AM

Blogdex at least shows the news sites...

As commenting on Saddam's capture.  Of course, tied for third is the story about Strom Thurmond's 'illegitimate' bi-racial daughter.

8:35:10 AM

Which is more painful?

Saddam's interrogation or listening to overpaid talking heads ask dumb questions or wax poetic (or whatever they think they are waxing).

8:19:03 AM

Scripting News is on Top...

Winer is on top of things... wonder why my RSS subscription isn't working?  Anway, he has clips and comments...  He has created a special events category.  Looks like he'll blog this one through.

8:17:49 AM

Is Blogging Real Time?

None of my research tools are showing the Saddam story rippling through the blogosphere.

8:11:10 AM

Kept it quite since yesterday at noon.

Supposedly, Saddam was captured around 12:36 yesterday, EST.  Guess we can keep secrets.

8:03:15 AM

Saddam is captured -- but where are the blogs?

The capture hit the wires less than an hour ago.  Technorati doesn't regist the earthquake that will hit the blogs today.   Instapundit isn't awake yet.

A couple of bits from the press conference Gen. Sanchez just finished in Iraq:

An Iraqui reporter was wondering if we would take Saddam somewhere where capital punishment was legal (his followup indicated that he would hope Saddam would be executed.)

A reporter actually asked what Saddam was doing when captured.  The response "hiding." Where do we get these "journalists"?

7:45:25 AM

SADDAM CAPTURED

A nice way to start a Sunday morning.  NYT Post

Hmmm.. The announcement hit the Times at 6:56 am.  Nothing on the blogwires... none of my aggregators said anything.  Time to do some surfin...
