What Happened to Shiara

Shiara ran through the same door that Geo did, to find herself in a different place altogether. She was in front of what looked like a large, Roman temple.  But this temple was not a ruin from the past; it was beautifully new and in obvious use.  One of the redbirds that flew in with her alighted on a stone bench.  “Zeet!” he cried, and suddenly he transformed into a strong and handsome young man who was obviously a god of some sort.

“You?”—she sputtered. “Are you one of ‘the Voices’?”

“I am ‘One Voice.’”

“Yes!” She clapped her hands as she recognized his voice. “Why don’t you come around looking like this more often?”

“I can only have my full physical form here… on my planet.  The further away I get from this planet,” (and here he got a mischievous look in his eye) “I can only be seen as smaller packages of visible material.  The little birds are a delightful change of… vestige.”

“I seem more ‘solid’ here, too.” She said.

“Of course you are, Shiara. You are a goddess”

“I wonder at times”

“Ah, so do we,” he said, and he chucked heartily. “You are rather a mess, my dear, look at yourself”

She saw that her boots and clothes were torn and muddy, and her hair a tangled mess.  “Oh dear…” she said.

“Did you remember your packages?”

Shiara smacked her head the way she always did. Her gaze dropped to the ground.  “Then I suppose I must remain as I am--a harsh sentence in this beautiful place.

And she sighed <sigh!>,  the failing goddess once again.
