Back to Shiara
Shiara stared shamefully down at her tattered, dirty clothing. She had left behind the magic boxes that were given to her by this very god she was standing before.
“We’ll fix that,” he said with kindness, and not a trace of criticality. A young woman, apparently a servant, walked up carrying a box. “Thank you, Dauphina—and can you arrange for her bath and attendants?”
“Yes, my Lord” she replied.
“Shiara,” The One Voice continued, “Oh Shiara! You are going to feel a lot better very soon. Come now, and let’s see what’s in the box!” He picked it up and did a shaky-shaky with the box, listening to it.”
“My goodness, Lord…”
“My name is Raynor.”
“Well, Raynor, you certainly are more playful than I expected. And younger, and…”
He turned his head away a bit. Was he blushing? Do gods blush? She asked herself. “It is lovely to be with you this way,” He said. And then he turned to the box. “Oh, presents!” he said. “These have been waiting for you, and I am just so glad that I can share them with you like this.”
