Mercury was low
Mercury was low
And the moon poked out pale
An areola fading
On the bleached side of the morning
When cotton was exploding
And we stuck out our thumbs for Wisconsin
And its hills at the edge of the ice age
Bending down to memory
We passed by the city by the river
With its castle homes built on the bones of the armies
Heading toward the darkening farm
Manned by SDS or LCD
One guy known leans over to Dave and says:
‘you dont know me.’
Thinking of the wolf howlin
Trouble was knockin
