Rings of Saturn

i.

We were approaching Saturn

In our craft of chrome

The encircling rings

Embellished and near

Said ‘ramblers

You’re gone but the decks are dormant,

You’re gone and now you’re here”

I’m Blinni

From the Italian Space Agency

On a mission from milan

5000 pounds of antennas and dream

and the soul of search

and all I do is push

that polaroid shutter

in the gap between

those rings

and gas

and fax

it back

to pasadena

alas

and

alack

and

i could use

a little

luck

flight controllers calling

destination data and hum

50,000 miles per hour, observing

with powerful propulsion to burn

a gap not wide

the magnetics mixed

our seven year journey

to get a gaseous fix

ii.

one day
in mist

i dwelt and walked

through

washington square

pocketa

park
and saw the brilliant panhandler there

who sniffed discarded perfume atomizer

and juiced-mused to his pals

to the whole strung lot of guys there

‘how can they say

Saturn isnt green

When I have proof positive

In this bottle?’

iii.

unknown moonlets

ringdom scalloping

wave

if you like

french fries

iv.

capt blinni

now the elder

reporting

over.
