Learning through Teaching

There should be a new form of study which is conducted not as a test-based, regurgitate facts system, but where the learner finds out all they can about something, then sits down and explains the whole thing to someone who knows about it. They would then ask questions, suggest areas to brush up on, and provide other knowledge they might know.

A test could be constructed, where the student explains all about the particular unit of study to someone who has no idea about it. The success of the student in learning is gauged by how well the third person knows the subject. Thus, the student becomes the teacher, observed and improved upon by another teacher, and as far up that loop as you wish to go.

It would make the learner actually think about what they were told, and raise questions to ask the teacher, not only your questions, but those of who the learner explains it to as well.
