Long Weekend

We got back from my brother-in-law's wedding up in Highland Falls, New York yesterday. The reception was at the Bear Mountain Inn just south of West Point. We had a great time.

Not wanting the good times to end, after getting back we all got into costume and decided to haunt my brother-in-law's neighborhood. My wife and I decided to dress up as rock musicians with long hair and truly outrageous clothes.

Now it's time to get serious with the election tomorrow. Regardless of who you plan to vote for, get out and vote. Enough people died for you to have that right so you might as well exercise it.

I'm heading down to Atlantic City for my brother-in-law's bachelor party. We're gonna play some blackjack, check out a few shows, drink, and probably get stupid.

What goes on in Atlantic City stays in Atlantic City. Or does that only apply to Las Vegas?

So I'm relaxing on the deck at Jenk's Inlet, just soaking up some rays and enjoying a Foster's Oil Can when I see it out of the corner of my eye. Suddenly, it comes into sharp piercing focus. The horror!

MADE IN CANADA.

WTF is "made in Canada" doing on my friggin' Fosters? Now, I've got nothing against Canadian beer. Every once in a while I'll throw back a Molson or LaBatt's. But Fosters is supposed to be Australian for Beer Mate! Brewed under license eh? It just left a sour taste in my stomach. Or maybe it was that sushi I had earlier.

I couldn't find a red, white and blue doo-rag. What the hell's the boardwalk coming to?

Back in January I said:

Well, the play [Wicked] was an absolute delight and I have to say that Idina Menzel, who plays Elphaba (that's the Wicked Witch of the West's real name) is going to be a big star. Her voice is absolutely incredible and her performance is so sympathetic that you are rooting for the supposedly "wicked" witch the entire time. She even overshadows Kristin Chenoweth, who plays the "good" but not to be entirely trusted Galinda.

Idina won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a musical.
