Permissions and Acknowledgements

In preparing a Web site dealing with Ethical Dilemmas in Research Integrity, you collect case studies from standard textbooks, identify the particular issues involved in each, and draft entirely new case studies that are worded differently but deal with precisely those same issues.  Should you obtain permission from the authors of the texts you consulted, and/or acknowledge their role in providing source material?
