About Me

A picture says more than a thousand words...A picture says more than a thousand words, here is what is not apparent from the picture.

I am a software consultant focusing on .NET technologies.  I was on the .NET Early Adopter Program and have been working solely with .NET for the last two years.

For my clients I do work as an software architect, developer, trainer, and mentor.
In 2000, Microsoft appointed me as Microsoft Regional Director (RD) for Norway. The RD community consits off 120 experts on Microsoft technology world-wide.  Here is what Microsoft says about RDs (http://www.microsoft.com/rd)

Microsoft Regional Directors are independent developers and architects, volunteers chosen for their leadership in their local technology circles, whose primary purpose is to share information about Microsoft technologies with their developer communities and to provide feedback from developers to Microsoft. Regional Directors are not Microsoft employees, but instead are industry experts who choose Microsoft technology in order to help their customers reach business goals and objectives.

The involvement with Microsoft has resulted in many speaking engagements at conferences and seminars. Microsoft does not pay an RD any money, the benefit lies in early access to new technology and information.

During my time as an RD I have met a lot of very talented and fun people. At one of the RD summits, late at night at a Seattle bar, I was talking to Tim Huckaby over some beers. This resulted in me writing 100 pages in the Wrox book Professional Commerce Server 2000.

I promised my wife I should not write a book again without my employer giving me time to do this. Still, after the .NET Early Adopter Program I ended up writing three chapter on Professional ASP.NET Web Services and also the VB.NET version Professional ASP.NET Web Services with VB.NET.

In 2001 I started the Norwegian .NET User Group, which now has more than 1400 registered users and 60-120 people turning up at meetings. The user group involvement has now internationalized with me being on the board of the INETA Europe. INETA – the International .NET Association – is a user group of user groups.
