ok..so I had to blog tonight..because I have a million things running through my head and I gotta get them out so I can finally get a great night's sleep before i start my new job in the morning..this is a long post..but its dying to get out of my head..

I don't know what to wear..I've never really worked in a corporate enviroment before..usually technical jobs and dot.coms for the last 5 years..and nothing fits anymore..although my mom bought me this great cream color aerosoles that don't hurt my feet..so I'm thinking the cream color pants which sorta of fit, a white dress top and the new shoes..

My feet are on fire again..don't know if I've ever mention this before, but I have psorasis on my feet..painful and hurts more when I'm stressed and being able to wear flip-flops for the last 5 years was a godsend..but now its going to be heels and dressy boots...owwwww....

last night I dreamed in link colors..please visit my newbie theme test page and suggest link colors that might work..otherwise I'll forever dream in link colors..my cat was pink with green paws, my friend was a green link but then a chocolate link then he was yellow...i hate dreams like that..oh god, I'm about to go into accounting with this new job..I'll have weird dreams forever..

I am so not prepared, I'm getting scared and very nervous now that I'm writing this all out and its coming out fast...I have no idea how to use lotus notes and I'm suppose to be the manager of IT?? oh god, i am not prepared here..and I'm scared..

and yes, the bathroom is finished..the moron contractor is gone forever out of my life..there are few issues..my furniture cabinet thing doesn't fit now..it will block the newly re-located light switch which is finally in the bathroom instead of in the closet..the shower door height is a little short..and since the contractor himself was a short guy, I don't think he took into account of the water overspray for someone 4-5 inches taller than him..although I'm not complaining about it..never ever ever want to see him again..I forgot to take pictures of final outcome but I will before I paint, since I have to move everything out again..and I'll finish the bathroom remodel saga later this weekend..(first part: sounds like towel, second part: first part of xxxx and ernie ..just in case anyone is wondering name of construction company)..oh and get this, the shower unit would have fit because the new toilet is smaller than the original one installed 20 yrs ago..therefore creating more room between wall and toilet.

did I mention I was scared??? I so not getting any sleep tonight..I'm scared!!!

"The heart can discern so many kinds of kisses. From the first shy kiss to the hungry urgent passionate kiss that almost shatters the soul." (i'm not sure where I got this quote but I was searching 1920's vintage erotic postcards when I ran across it..it was too passionate to pass up)

I was planning on buying a house in the next couple of years..and I guess my timeline has been pushed up a little..I don't see myself living in the direction of Sacramento and the more I think about..I really don't see myself as a yuppie living in the suburbs of Walnut Creek-Pleasant Hill area..I like diversity but I like the small town feel of a neighborhood which is probably why I have always like Alameda so much..plus I love the old victorians...although I really don't think I can afford to live in Alameda..but alot of people have suggested that I'm a Rockridge/Berkeley/Lake Merritt kind of person..I just wanted a small little house, preferably in a safe neighborhood for the cats..with a small backyard..

although first things first..get settle in new job then find a new home :) magick happens...i'll find something just right when the time is right and probably right when I need it....everything happens for a reason....

..this was a wonderful thing to see today...especially the part about the property...from what I understand and have heard..saturn passing through is the time of paying dues...jupiter is the reward for paying those dues..

Jupiter and Mercury in the section of your chart associated with your home and family, JULIE, will continue to bring you many wonderful experiences that will bring you closer to your loved ones. You may want to show how much you care by doing a few practical things for them. This they will truly appreciate. Opportunities to invest in your property, or in real estate in general, are also very present. Jupiter is in this section of your chart for roughly one year, so use this time to improve your property in a big way. With both Venus and the Sun in the section of your chart associated with fun and pleasure, and let us not forget - love affairs - you will have much to celebrate. This isn't the time to stay in and rest at home, even if fall is on its way. You are far better off to continue to meet new people and make new contacts. There is a wealth of information out there, which can help you in some very important and significant ways. But do take care when dealing with other people, as there are some powerful emotions around that could knock you off center.

Astrology

I called an old friend(?) tonight and got his girlfriend on the phone instead. She picked up his cell phone which surprised me for two reasons (1)usually I get voicemail and I've only called 3 times in the past few months..so I thought I'd give it one more try to make contact and (2) why was she answering his cell phone? I was in the neighborhood (had just left a bar close by where I had met my recruiter finally - she picked the place..I didn't suggest it) and thought hey, maybe he might answer the phone and we could meet for a beer, I had an hour to kill, plus I was starving, couldn't remember where the chinese restaurant was that he took me too thought I'd call and ask (I found it by the way..after driving around in circles for about half an hour - great little place called Alice's).

Apparently him and his girlfriend are living together..which is great for them. I'm happy that he is happy and found someone that he's truly in-love with.  Now I know they are together and have been for the last 6 months or so but what amused me about the conversation was her first statement to me when she answered the phone,  "Julie, you know we are together!" Geez, like I'm stupid or something. That statement was just begging for a blog post :) I'm not trying to sound bitchy or anything here..it was incredibly amusing to me. I know they are together!! And I'm dating someone, just thought we were going to try and be friends..I guess its a dead issue at this point.

I know it might seem strange that I would still want to be friends with an ex-lover and possibly his girlfriend but she sounded nice and sweet, and one of my exs and his wife are two of my greatest friends. Another one of my ex-boyfriends was my best friend til he died.  I guess I just want the same with this ex-lover...and I guess it wasn't meant to be. I thought we have alot in common but everything happens for a reason.

....which is what I was trying to tell his girlfriend when she hung up on me.  I mean really if you answered his cell phone, you must have either wanted to talk to me or really need to tell me that you were together? just an fyi..i don't want your boyfriend..he is all yours. I'm dating someone.

....by the way, if you pick up your boyfriend's cell phone, be prepared that the other person on the line might just be incredibly amused or caught off guard that a live person actually answered the phone.

....Oh and next time someone is talking to you, don't hang up the phone...it might have been something worth hearing..instead of the whole conversation being posted here!

This morning, I manually ran my upstreamPostIndex script because I'm never home or on the computer at any set time and I don't leave Radio or my computer running when I'm not at home for a few reasons (my power supply needs to be replaced and since I've had people in and out lately..I don't want to leave it on) Anyways, every time I try to manually run this script I get this error in the event log:

Can't upstream because "Can't read stream because TCP/IP error code 10060 - Connection timed out."

I figured out this might be caused by my firewall, so I made sure that I have this box checked in the prefs > firewall NAT? >

If your machine is behind a firewall or NAT, your desktop computer may not be able to receive messages over the Web. Some functions of Radio UserLand, such as RSS change notification, are disabled if you're behind a firewall.

Check this box if you are connected to the Internet behind a firewall or a NAT.

And I made sure that the Windows XP Internal Internet Firewall app is not checked

However I still get the error message on the event log and the only way to get my upstreamPostIndex Script to run is to stop my firewall, manually run the script and let Radio upstream and then restart my firewall....

The question is why? does this happen? I did a google search and there are pages and pages of people with the same problem using radio or salon... is this a problem on my end or a radio userland problem? Many questions. I have a work around but I don't think i should have to stop my firewall in order for my upstreamPostIndex script ot work...any thoughts out there?

Interesting enough, I forgot this one little step with the monthly archive macros...I decide to finally update all my blogrolls with the monthly archive macro but forgot to add this:  flProcessMacros:true to the end of the blogroll macro...

lets see if it worked....I'll write a newbie tip soon :)

I want my home back, I want my life back,  I want to sleep in my own house for as long as it I still have this little house and I want to get lucky with finding a new home for me and my cats..and I don't neccessarily want to have to move to Fairfield to find a home...is this too much to ask for?

I'm exhausted..I just want to sleep in my own house and not have these contractors here. I wish I had another week before I started my new job...but then again, that might help me take my mind off all these problems that seem to be cropping up in my life right now...

I feel like I'm in the terrible twos stage of my life again..I WANT!!!

If life didn't suck enough with this contractor from hell, the bathroom remodel and staying in a hotel this week or at least to sleep, my landlord nicely sprung this upon me..he is thinking about selling this property, wanted to know if I was still interested in buying it. Like I have the money, I have to borrow money from my mom until I get my first paycheck from this new job. I have 5 cats and I think I could possibly afford to pay 1100.00 for rent but that's it. I just painted this cottage..what the hell am I suppose to do now?

I could buy this property and continue to rent out the front house to the people in front for a year or so, I guess and continue to live in the cottage and then maybe afford to move into the front house once I pay off all my bills...but I have no idea if I even can qualify for a mortgage..my credit sucks currently, my bankruptcy almost is off the record but still..I'd like to know how long I have before I have to move..and where am I going to go with these cats?

Damn. Damn. Damn.

ok, talked to the girl in front that rents the main house...she said that we have at least 3 months before he makes a decision and possibly up to a year before we had to move...so i'm going to start looking soon - maybe either to decide to buy this property or move and try not to stress - maybe I'll get lucky with this part of my life too and find my dream home..magick happens..gotta remember that :)

I'm in contractor hell...bathroom remodel has been updated for day two...I was thinking of putting each day into a separate story but not sure if I should just continue with one big story..any thoughts? What would be would be easier to read?

Astrology category updated..

For Tolkien lovers - Hoom! Maps - Walking Directions

Cat funnies: found the cat yesterday..she got into the neighbor's backyard..she can squeeze herself through an opening in their gate but is too fat to jump back over the fence by herself..that was fun, had to put a chair on the other side of the fence..call her, get to jump into the chair and lift her over the fence..(its a little chainlink fence about 4ft tall) and she did it again this morning..the cats are totally afraid of the contractors...definetly wouldn't hire them again.. You must pass the cat test in this house :)

just got a great new idea for a theme....

2:26:56 PM    comment [] trackback []

background is set to darkblue and fgcolor is set to dodgerblue..trippy in the edit box - this is an example of what I was beta testing....totally cool script..

testing again bgcolor option is dark blue, if individual words change colors you have to use the color font box and not change the fgcolor box in order for the text to remain the color you want it to show up on the actual post..this looks cool....if you only want to see what it looks like then use the fgcolor to change the text and after post/publish it will be the default color of the theme.

As I'm sitting here waiting for my bathroom remodel..which will be hopefully completed by Friday..only have to figure out where to take a shower for the next 3 days, one night in a hotel..so that leaves 2 days that I need to take a shower somewhere else..hmmm, that works. Thank god, my clothes are on rolling racks easy to move around, I have two by the bed and one in the living room. The litter box is in the living room..not where I want it but it will have to do and the my bathroom essentials are in the kitchen..fun...cats are wondering around..startled by the noise..one cat has completely disappeared, freaked her out a little..I'll find her later... and so i thought I'd validate my home page and write a story about the events of each day of the bathroom remodel with pictures

This is a dumb question..but I changed my permalink and daily link icons to match my theme..but I noticed its now the permalink and daily link icons on several different pages which are not using my current home page theme...oops...thought that might happen..but wasn't sure

  1. is there a way to have different permalink and daily link icons for different themes and how do you do this?
  2. or how do you open the permalink macro (check under the hood - see how its working?)

because I've noticed on the bryan bell's themes...he has different icons than the default..so there must be a way to modify per theme

You'd think I'd be in a better mood today..I mean my shower/bathroom is finally getting re-modeled starting tomorrow..last night I heard a loud crunch like the sub-flooring was giving away when I was taking a shower.  I'm in a funk and who is this unknown caller and private number caller that calls the same time everyday..give up, I am never going to answer the phone unless you have caller id and I know the number. Where did this funk come from? I should be in a great mood because......I got the job!!!! Signed the offer letter today and start on October 1st!!!!!!!  I guess I wish I had someone to share it, go out and celebrate..maybe the funk will lift tomorrow and I'll feel better..maybe I need to get out of this heat for a while..

6:24:09 PM    comment [] trackback []

i feel like I'm being stupid or something..maybe its the heat or ??? I just can not figure out this <%workspace.monthlyArchiveLinks ()%>, I've inserted it in my blogroll under the monthly archives section, deleted the february archive link..as a test..want to see how it works before I delete the other lines..but for some reason..I'm just not getting it..the light bulb hasn't gone off yet..

and for some reason my postindexes aren't upstreaming..maybe today just isn't a good computer day for me.......my firewall keeps stopping it..driving me nuts..however checking the box on this page might be the answer to my problems: http://127.0.0.1:5335/system/pages/prefs?page=4.3

so I'm thinking that sitting in 101 degree weather with one fan blowing on me...is causing my brain to turn to mush..:) but I love my new colors..

but once again thanks to David/Tweezerman, my call for help has been answered..and the monthly archive link macro is working inside my blogroll..at least for now on the main page..when its cools off, I'll work on the other blogrolls....

Today I decided to try Tweezerman's Radio Userland monthly archive macro and either its too early in the morning for me or I'm missing a concept. I get that the monthly archive link includes the category pages (or includes all posts including any posts that were to a category only for a month) which the default monthly archive link http://radio.weblogs.com/0119318/2003/02/  that I used in my blogroll does not but I am not sure where to put the <%workspace.monthlyArchiveLinks ()%> macro (which template to use) - do I insert this macro inside the index page of each month or ?? Like I said - it might just be too early in the morning for me :)

Yesterday I posted help (want blogroll to go horizontal) and thanks again to David Phillips/Tweezerman...we got this working..check out the sexymagick category to see my new blogroll horizontally on the page.

The reason I wanted to have my blogroll go horizontal is because I'm using bryan bell theme, discreet radio blog in black which has the navigator links horizontally across the page but I could never figure out how to get the blogroll that I was using to look the same as the navigator links. I knew it was in the css style code but wasn't sure where. I ended up creating a new blogroll specifically for the horizontal view..too much information filled up the top of the page.

How to make this work for you, Changing Blogroll Format to Horizontal View

Newbie Tips

Today I decided to try David Phillips javascript Tweaking Radio's HTML editors (both of them!) to change the fonts used by the built-in HTML editor, works great. I'm using Courier New font for this post.

If I could figured out the font family for Comic Sans Ms then I'd be good.

I'd also like to be able to change the font colors available..I haven't ever used darkgoldenrodgray or olive and would like to change them to mediumvioletred and slateblue and dodgerblue, I'm assuming that with a little modification to David's script that I can change the colors but not sure which way it should be, possibly one of these

document.forms(0).elements(4).options(17).style = 'color:mediumvioletred';
document.forms(0).elements(4).options(17).value = 'mediumvioletred';

document.forms(0).elements(4).options(17).style.color = 'mediumvioletred';
document.forms(0).elements(4).options(17).value = 'mediumvioletred';

Thanks David..this is great!!!! So much easier than changing the hard coded script in Radio and this way doesn't wipe out changes with each radio.root update.

Update..we figured out the font family of Comic Sans MS - its Comic Sans MS - using it from the drop down box now

and the correct code for changing the colors in the drop down box is (whereas 13 was olive and 15 was darkgoldenrod)

document.forms(0).elements(5).options(13).style.color = 'mediumvioletred';
document.forms(0).elements(5).options(13).text = 'mediumvioletred';

document.forms(0).elements(5).options(15).style.color = 'slateblue';
document.forms(0).elements(5).options(15).text = 'slateblue';

This is driving me nuts and I know its a simple fix...my navigator links on my sexymagick category page are in a horizontal line with a  |  between the section as shown below

Home | About Me | My Interests | Astrology | Wicca | Resumes |

Now what I want to do is have my blogroll act the same way on that category page..except everytime I try to put my blogroll on that theme..its vertical and messes up the way the theme looks.

I know its a class style or something related to the way the blogroll fits on the page and how to put the separator between the blogroll names..but can't figure it out..

test again.. I realized something today about the upstreaming of the post index/table of contents nightly updates..your computer must be on and running radio I would assume..I turn off my computer nightly and only have radio up and running when I'm posting something..test to see if the manual run of the script is working..(that worked..my firewall was filtering all radio traffic - causing upstream to time out or the connection to fail..interesting..firewall has been reconfigured to allow all radio traffic...)

Post indexes are now up My project for the day was adding post index pages (table of contents, recent titled posts, whatever you want to call them) to my weblog. I decided to go with Rogers Cadenhead's viewPostIndex macro.

My main weblog and all of my category pages now have a post index page .  The links to them can be seen in my links column on the right.  [Nice macros, Rogers - Thanks!] [The Tweezer's Edge 2]

Thanks to David Phillips(TweezerMan) and all his help last night, I finally got a great table of contents script working...nice hack David - thanks for all your help last night.

I'll be writing a series of advanced newbie tips soon (before I forget how to do it) detailing how to get Rogers Cadenhead's viewPostIndex and upstreamPostIndexes macros working correctly.

There are days that I don't feel like posting anything and then there are days that I have a million things to say.

Is it me or have there been a lot of people moving their blogs off the radio hosting option? me..hmmm, I'll probably never leave for many reasons..I like it here and I'm learning alot in the process  of customizing my blog

Have you ever noticed that your pets get sick when you have no money to pay the vet bill? One of my cats hasn't gotten in a fight for at least a year..then last week..wouldn't you know it, he gets into a fight - big neck wound..thank god, my vet likes me and has known me for many m
