Stick it Game and Transparent Cats so i guess my blog has been a little boring lately, no comments, not even sure anyone reads it anymore, hits are low..running a business is a tough job, seems like I hardly ever have an down time anymore and I seriously need to figure out how to make my cat transparent because her favorite thing as of late is to sit right in front of the keyboard so I can't see the monitor and meow at me, if only she was transparent i could read the screen and type around her :) Here comes Wubbie, her turn to sit just so that she's in the way..although kneading is nice, trying to help me type, i could do without I saw this Passing the Stick on Just Around the Bend and while I wasn't passed the stick, I'm an avid reader, if I'm not working, I'm staying up late reading and also when I'm at the gym these days, I'm reading while working out on the bike..so I thought I'd share my thoughts, maybe make this blog a little more interesting and pass it along. Well, lets see yesterday I bought 2 books: Deception Point by Dan Brown and Dangerous Curves by Pamela Britton The last book you read was? the last three books I was reading concurrently were: Coming of Age in Mississippi,  A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly and Witch Child by Celia Rees (Witch Child was my favorite out of all three) What are you currently reading? I tend to read several books at once, currently reading the two books I just bought - Deception Point by Dan Brown and Dangerous Curves by Pamela Britton and a javascript book. What is the next book on your reading wish list? this is easy, Fahrenheit 451 and number 6 in a series of books I started reading called Daughters of the Moon by Lynne Ewing What are your favorite genres? I tend to have a passion for teenage books, some of my favorite authors write books for children/teenagers - although I go through these types of books really quickly, I can read a whole series in a few days. But I also like spy/mystery novels, nonfiction, magical, anything that holds my attention. I even like linguistics word books. As long as a book holds my interest, brings me into the fantasy world of the book, showing me the way through the book, weaving me into their lives, I'm hooked. If I can pick up a book, flip to any page and the middle paragraph in the middle of the pages gets me interested, then I'll most likely 99% of time buy it. Five books you'd take to a deserted island? Fountainhead Tad Williams - Otherland, the series Anything by Madeline L'Engle Starhawk, The Fifth Sacred Thing probably a mystery of some sort Its hard to pick just 5, a trunk of books would be an easier pick. How long would I be on this deserted island? Can I have one of every genre? well, since the cat has decided to help me type and I need to get up and go look at the wall of books to see which books I'd take to a deserted island and what the title of the book is that I'm currently reading is, I'll be back with answers Who will you pass this stick (3 persons) on to, and why? lets see I have to think about this one a little more..maybe tomorrow, I'll think of my three although if you see it here and would like to continue with my meme...go for it :) 8:03:51 PM    comment [] trackback [] Design Test Designing a theme - since my javascript for some bizarre reason was getting jumbled during upstream, I thought why not, lets see if I can use CSS to create image rollovers, start from scratch and just insert the Radio macros exactly where I want them instead of copying from another template design. Only problem - I can't seem to access radio.userland.com to see what macros I need to include..so from memory, lets see what happens... test1 - cool, that worked, now for some minor changes test 2 - font was a little small, fixed. something funky with my image rollover but its getting there. love the header, fixed some cell padding. (its raining - no wonder my knees are aching and the cats are needy) test3 - not sure if I like the font color (any thoughts?) think I figured out the image swapping with CSS..much better than javascript and radio seems to like it better (see if this works, then off to hookup the wireless router) upstreaming not working..defintely time to work on something else test4 image swapping working, upstreaming working, yeah.....time to see if coyote gulch likes the base idea..(wireless router working..time to move it to its new home) 2:37:42 PM    comment [] trackback [] Newbie Themes Test Page

chaotic cancellation is getting chaotic New Client today - interesting and it was great - I still know how to use Quicken even though I haven't seen it in years and years. Although I left this afternoon with a feeling of getting her completely organized and then handing the task over to whomever I decide to hire. But first I want to get the books/the bills/the tasks running smoothly and organized before I hand it over to someone else. I made a comment to her today, if only I could clone myself then I know the work would be done perfectly. She said that she liked that in a woman, totally self-confident and assured and that it's the perfect way to think of oneself (yea, that made me feel good). Now where do I find a clone of myself? I need to write an ad to put on craigslist but then I think when do I really have time to meet someone and hire them? My schedule is utterly full GYM: MWF - 10am Client 1:  MWF - 12-8 Client 2:  TTH - 10-1 Client 3: SYN  - project is on hold but at some point he could decide to start it again (that's a least a 2day week project or more and I need to finish my task for the project by the end of the month which I should be working on instead of blogging) Client 4: Dogzilla Web Design and Maintenance Client 5: PetPhotographer - my part is done for now, but at some point need to train and transfer the QB data to her Mac Version (although she's a trade client - accounting for photos of the cats and the artwork Client 6:  now TTH - 3-6ish-7 Coyote Gulch: web design (weekend/free moments project) World of D: web design client (at some point - no rush though) Grumpy Girl: web design client (some day she'll send me that header and we can finish project) Client 6: also wants a web design for her law practice Client 1: Project DB and Web Design need to be worked on soon did i mention that i was busy? and I'm trying to redesign my website and my business cards and at some point I need to do billing, really I do need to hire someone to help out, I didn't really realize how busy i was til i just now when I listed it out. 11:56:52 PM    comment [] trackback [] the rain, open toed shoes and a meowing cat Nothing like walking around in a rain storm in open toe heels. My psorasis was growing into the sides of my toenails again and I had to dress up for a new client today..so what's a girl to do when she can't wear shoes? Damn good thing my feet are always hot due to the psorasis, the only bad part was when I walked to the car and the river running down the street was higher than my feet..ooooo..that was cold Other news..my fat cat, really she's huge, I've had her since she was a baby, almost 12-13 years now and I've only heard her meow once and occasionally chirp when she sees a bird. Last night I came home and I guess she must have gotten disoriented in the wind and the rain or something(she's partially blind in one eye) but she was sitting at the front door soaked (she likes water which probably propelled her out the back door in the first place) meowing at me when I walked up, odd that she was meowing and OMG, she does meow. My stress level has been a little high but hopefully with getting back into going to the gym 3 days a week, it will go back down. Also I found out my taxes aren't as bad as I thought they were going to be..feeling much better about that. data dump 3-16-05 new business cards design - check. consulting agreement for new client  - check, I can't believe I forgot this the other day, I guess I didn't think she was going to hire my company or maybe I was just hoping she wouldn't. where does one find a copy of oneself? I wonder should I post an ad on craigslist or check the local colleges? any thoughts on this one? opened the bills - check. enter info into QB - working on it. coyote gulch design - yeah I have another design idea not posted yet but in progress, I like this one better. grumpy girl - didn't forget about you..send the heading. SYN client - so cool, he's postponed the migration another month or so, thank god. mouse is driving me nuts. is this blog boring? anyone still reading it? sleepy..so sleepy personal trainer - got mad at me today, I was so sick when I woke up, didn't make it to the gym today - I will go tommorrow and Friday and Sunday to make up for the missed days. I lost 8 lbs - yeah, only 2 more to go and I'll be under 200 and then only 40 more to go after that and I'll hit my goal weight!!! I need a date. I need a social life and I want playtime back in my life - oh yea, I started my own business, no time for that, but I still want it. another client - wow, I need to hire someone wow, I'm sitting here thinking about all the work that needs to be completed and wondering how the hell I'm going to handle this new client, what I really really need is to hire someone. This bookkeeper needs a bookkeeper, like right now! I really need someone just like me but the odds of finding someone that knows quicken, quickbooks, web design, IT, project management, etc is probably slim. I thought when I talked to the client that I could take on the project one day a week and then find someone but honestly I need to find someone right now, someone that is perfect, someone that knows a little accounting but is teachable, the project is mainly data-entry into quicken and another program called timeslips and will be 4-5 days a week, possibly full-time and then there is the assistant to me work that needs to be done. Wow, I never thought starting my own business would make me this busy or in the utter need of an employee so quickly. Anyone looking for work out there? Another thought, I wonder if I have employees then I could probably get small business health insurance eventually...random thought popping out of head 7:51:03 PM    comment [] trackback []

Recommending Radio I was researching radio to recommend to a customer that wants an events type of page that she can easily edit and upload different events/sports/news to her website and I thought - Radio would work or a blog in general would work for that purpose, she wouldn't have to know html or css or anything, she could easily type in the event and the calendar would do the link automatically...in the thought of recommendation I need to show her how it works, soooo..I created an events theme page on my newbie test template as I couldn't for the life of me find any links in Radio's documentation to different type of site usages - IMHO, I think that would help alot of people decide if they could use Radio for what they want, if they could see different types of Radio blogs in use.... oops, i wonder - Is it possible to post for a future date? I was thinking about recommending Radio to a client as a way to post events and have the calendar be the link date but will she be able to post into the future - for example if the event is on March 17th and she posts in Radio today, that wouldn't work because the calendar link would be on the wrong date. 8:10:45 AM    comment [] trackback []

new design too much color??   5:40:05 PM    comment [] trackback [] New Glasses don't fit I bought some really cute glasses at Lenscrafters a couple of months ago, they fit almost perfect except they kept sliding down my nose. So I went in for an adjustment - mistake of a lifetime, the guy completely screwed up my glasses and after 5-6 adjustments to put them back, the frames were so twisted that I eventually had them just replace the frame with the same one. Except, they still don't fit me, I've had the new replacement frames adjusted 3 times thus far and still too painful to wear. I am wearing my old glasses. I've come to the conclusion that these frames just don't fit me and I should just go back and get my money back and start over - see if I can financed for laser eye surgery which would solve the glasses problem once and for all or just start over with a new pair of frames...so hopefully, I can get a refund on these frames or maybe just a new frame because I'm tired and frustrated with trying to get a pair of glasses to just fit and be comfortable for daily wear without sliding down my nose, without putting pressure on my nose or temples. I just applied online for VSP (visionfeeplan) and got approved for financing for lasik eye surgery, now must check budget and see if I can do this and afford the payments!!! 3:26:19 AM    comment [] trackback []

data dump and sooooo tired interesting, I got this email from someone named angie wanting to know how i did the kiss trail on the sexymagick page..so I write her back telling her it javascript and css and if she tells me her url, then I could help her insert it her template, then I get an email back that she has no idea what I'm talking about like she never sent the email..weird - no kiss trail for angie I should be working but I'm sitting here thinking how damn tired I am, just sooooooo tired and overwhelmed with all the work and thinking its time to re-design the home page template - I'm bored with it, just a few tweaks here and there and its almost time for survivor and then I need to take a shower and all the things I need to be doing instead of blogging like writing that website 101 for client #2 writing tutorials and researching contracts for client #3 website design for client #1 working remotely for client #3 paying my bills organizing my office workspace researching sharepoint server and ftp for client #1 I'm so tired that I can't remember exactly what I need to be doing except sleep 7:36:14 PM    comment [] trackback []
