note to self note to self for beauty dish theme item title - change font size  - ok trying 12px change calendar colors - blue/lilac  - done the top dotted line - delete - doesn't look right add a little more padding  - figure out link to pic at bottom - why doesn't it show up - fixed work on the desktop theme finish and move everything to default folders to save as a new theme (remember to save current files first*grin*) 2:15:32 PM    comment [] trackback [] Newbie Themes Test Page

Designing personalized blog themes maybe designing a theme for a women is easier than for a man (both of whom I've never met) I felt kinda of bad that I couldn't get the right idea going for Coyote Gulch but somehow for the Beauty Dish, its all coming together nicely. Gripes from the Grumpy Girl was another theme that just came together but maybe its because I can relate to her blog and the Beauty Dish, I read her posts and think I can so relate to what she's saying and maybe its because we're all about the same age...but Coyote Gulch honestly I just couldn't get into his blog and maybe that's what made the difference - do I relate to them in some way, do they tell me who that person is, how they think? 12:47:59 AM    comment [] trackback [] Designs, Newbie Themes Test Page

does anyone read this anymore? still testing a new design for Birdie.... does anyone actually read this blog anymore? I'll admit, I like comments - they make the blog world go round  - am I heading on the right track on my thoughts, are they interesting thoughts? or are they just boring, maybe I need to create some new newbie tips - but hell, really do I have time to do that anymore - yea, in a very scattered sort of way amazing oh jesus kind of discovery today, I was trying to figure out why one of my client's computers is moving at a snail's pace and there are no 2000 printer drivers beside the fact that she still has a PII with a 4GB hard drive in it that was originally an WIN95 computer upgraded to a WIN2000 computer and damn I discovered that during a checkdisk - that the whole damn 4GB is completely fragmented - red across the board and not only is it fragmented, I can't defrag it because it doesn't have enough space to run. Oh and the printer drivers, well whoever did the upgrade never finished installing the service packs probably because there's not enough room on the hard drive to install them - no service packs, no drivers updated. And she still doesn't understand, the computer is dying, on its last legs..and no way on earth can I upgrade it to XP with that hard drive. 8:00:35 PM    comment [] trackback [] Newbie Themes Test Page

just hired my first employee long day and long week ahead, I just hired my first employee and now its training time. Today we went over the employment agreement, then we trained at the client's site and basic information on Quicken. I left her I think enough work to get her through about noon time, I hope.. I have to be at MDA client in AM, then stop in and check on new employee, then off to MLA client in PM, then probably back to CF client to finish the stuff that my new employee doesn't know how to do yet, then work on a Tigerpaw client migration when I get home in the late PM and then its starts all over again on Wednesday - except I have take the cats to the vet first and then head over to the CF client, then over to MLA client.. I forgot to get her SS number and her basic info - I need to copy all that tommorrow..wow, the amount of things you have to do to have an employee, I'm tired and its only Monday :( at least I have a couple of fun things to work on tonight - starting the beauty dish design 8:48:23 PM    comment [] trackback []

Ranking Page and Referrers Page - how do they work? Originally I posted this question on the discussion board and never really got a straight answer: How does the ranking page work? Steve Kirks answer - "The ranking page works when you use the "static site stats image" macro: <%radio.macros.staticSiteStatsImage ()%> Make sure it's on the main template and the homepage template....The "image" is a javascript that pulls a 1 pixel transparent image from UserLand's server. The javascript tells the server to a)  increment the counter for your usernum and b) send the image." Other information I've received - "The rankings page counts referrals, not hits." If I look at my desktop site and read the description under referers, its says "Referers shows you which sites are pointing to yours and how many hits they're delivering" and the ranking page description says, "lists the 100 most popular Radio-managed weblogs, today and all-time" therefore if the ranking page counts referrals then why does it say hits at the top of the column on this ranking page? Then I would assume that the referrers page has nothing to do with the ranking page - since the referrers page counts referrals and the ranking page counts hits and that I could have millions of referrers but never hit the ranking page list - correct? and now I'm really confused - this page - Ranking by Page Reads - seems to be working again and which ranking page do I really want to be looking at - the Ranking Page link from the Referrers Page or this one, Ranking by Page Reads? and then that begs the question, why are there two Ranking Pages? if I'm confused, no wonder I never got a straight answer - others are confused too.. 11:02:37 AM    comment [] trackback []

Endless days.. Do you ever have those days that just seem endless? Today seems to be one of those days and apparently tommorrow will be as well according to my horoscope...It doesn't seem fair that your workload and list of responsibilities seem endless. Today, you may wish to call upon your charm and delegation skills and enlist the help of others. And if you can't, simply do the best that you can without sacrificing time with your family and loved ones. Ultimately, JULIE, the latter is more important than the former. Extending a deadline isn't the end of the world. My last few weeks have felt endless upon endless, too much to do and not enough time or enough of me to do it all. I know that if I go work out at least I can have my down time that I so desperately need but this morning, my head had other plans for me, the migrane from hell. I woke at 6am, took migrane medicine and was zonked out, missed my appt with the personal trainer, barely remember talking to him and then day just got more and more full once I woke up. Work at a client's site, errands to run after that at 8:30 at night, laundry - got to the laundry place late, came home with wet clothes, currently drying those, still need to clean the house - need to vacumn before my interviewee shows up in the morning at 9:30am and still much much work to do before i sleep..the day is endless upon endless. And the only emails I got today, were from myself, so sad. Where are all the night owls to distract me?  Endless days...hopefully they will end soon..off to clean the house..get rid of all the feathers, apparently my cats have taken to eating birds as of late and leaving the feathers for me..amazing I never heard it through the night..endless days are zonking me out at night when I finally do reach the pillow.. 12:42:14 AM    comment [] trackback []

Life today 5-3-05 Business is picking up, I have another new client in San Diego of all places..time to find a pet sitter, since I will be going to San Diego in the next couple of weeks to meet the client face to face and start the inital consultation - get going on a plan (airfare, travel and hotel is part of the proposal) Now to find that perfect pet sitter for my 5 babies...I've emailed two that service Vallejo - Perren Inc and Dog Walks and More..hopefully one of these two is the perfect pet sitter and is available in two weeks but do I want overnight visits or 2xday visits..hmmm, I wish I could figure out how to incorporate that into my proposal :) I have two interviews scheduled for next week for potential employees - at the rate I'm going, I might just hire them both, at 20 hours a week, that would cover 40 hours a week for me while I'm off traveling in San Diego..hmmm, this might just work out. And the San Diego client, will pay for the laser eye surgery..wow, magick does happen, just have to be patience and let it work Laser Eye Surgery Update: I learned today, my original vision before the surgery was 20/400, I was legally blind. So today is defintely a better day, my vision is now 20/20 and 20/30 when I'm tired. Eyes are tired, time for bed 12:22:44 AM    comment [] trackback []
