The Dark Side of Goal Setting

I've been thinking a lot about the role of planning and goal setting in an organization's success. I am a strong proponent of goal setting - done well. The darker side of goal setting is what people in organizations experience too often. I have written about it this week.

The Darker Side of Goal Setting: Why Goal Setting Fails ...

Here's another quotation about planning. Plus, employee participation advice in the 1700's? Wow, we are slow learners.

"Men often oppose a thing merely because they have had no agency in planning it, or because it may have been planned by those whom they dislike."

--Alexander Hamilton (1755 - 1804)

Warmly,

Susan
