The greatest irony of Labor Day seems to be that it has become a holiday primarily for bankers, people in education, government employees, and executives. In other words, people in white collar jobs. Now, I could be wrong about this, but it seems that the blue-collar workers, the people for whom Labor Day was created, tend to have to work right through it. I don't know much about people in manufacturing, but people in distribution and retail sure have to. What gives?
