MBA Application Preparation

Here's what I did to prepare for my MBA Application. I spent a considerable amount of time researching the programs. This is a task I would definitely recommend to anyone who is thinking about applying to business school. I wanted to learn about what each program was looking for in a student, costs, and prestige. You also have to ask yourself, do you want something part-time or full-time? Some of the schools I looked into didn't have a part-time MBA program.

In the end, you want to understand your customer...in this case the school you are applying to is your customer.  Are they looking for applicants with a strong technical background, perhaps they want applicants with management experience. Once you understand what they are looking for in an ideal candidate, you have to figure out what areas are your strengths and your weaknesses. For me, I didn't have any management type of experience, so I wanted to address that in my application essays. I looked at the essays as an oppurtunity to massage my the technical parts of my application and put my experience in a context that would be appealing to the MBA Applications committe.
