April is starting out wet, wet, wet. I've managed to pull some weeds in a brief break in the weather after work on Thursday. Today might allow a bit more weeding, but planting is out of the question as the ground is simply too soggy. Gardeners' patience is wearing very thin.  Watch out for high veggie prices too. Our California farmers are not having any better luck with their plantings either. I am saving up the memory of rain to bring forward in May or August when the weather is blazing hot.

March has set a record for number of days of rain. I love that the hills are still green and lush. Unfortunately, the weeds in my yard are also very happy. We are so soggy, it may take a month to dry out. Weather reports another week of rain is coming.

Rain is still in the forecast and it is cold for California. Spring is closing in and no plantings can be done in this wet soil. It feels more like the beginning of winter rather than springtime. There was a tornado watch in the area of Oklahoma where I visited.

I'll be going to Boston next week, where it is still in the 20's and 30's. Brrrr!

Flying home to say goodbye to my mother.

We have had lots of rain and everything is soaked and muddy. The cabbage and peas like the wet but it is still too cold to be spring or consider planting any more veggies.  The hills above 3000 feet have had multiple snow days. Very unusual for our sunny Bay Area weather and as a native to the area, I can say I don't ever remember having this many snowy hill days.

A white lilac bush spoke to me yesterday at the nursery. Unplanted at the moment, the lilac will hopefully break up the purples of lavendar, society garlic and hummingbird plants.  We are to go back to seasonable weather--50's instead of 70's later this week. Lots of trees have already blossomed, thinking it is Spring.

Too much work, too tired and too wet to garden. :-(
