Howard Dean Vs. Dennis Kucinich [Alternet}
A debate on progressivism, getting out of Iraq, electability and the unexpected success of the Dean Candidacy.
NORMAN SOLOMON: Well, I think it's clear that Howard Dean doesn't represent what Martin Luther King called for - fighting what he said were the giant triplets of racism, militarism and economic exploitation. Yes, we should get rid of President George W. Bush. Let's go in with our eyes open and not have illusions about who and what Howard Dean is.

Blood, Money & Power
How L.B.J. Killed J.F.K., by L.B.J. Attorney Barr McClellan. Barr McClellan, father of newly appointed Bush Press Secretary Scott McClellan, is soon to publish a book claiming he helped Lyndon Johnson plot the killing of John Kennedy in 1963. The Hill.com says:
Big buzz around town on the new book Blood, Money & Power: How LBJ killed JFK, due out Sept. 30, claims LBJ engineered the murder of President Kennedy. The author is attorney Barr McClellan, who left Austin, Texas, four years ago and now lives in Gulfport, Miss., where he's an investor and businessman. McClellan is the father of Scott McClellan, who took over from Ari Fleischer as President Bush's press secretary in July. We haven't seen the book so we'll reserve our opinion on whether it breaks free from the Oliver Stone conspiracy model. It does claim that LBJ plotted the killing through a Texas lawyer and crony named Edward Clark, now dead.

Marijuana meets Socialism
Health Canada's government-approved marijuana is apparently not up to snuff, according to it's first 'patients'.
"It's totally unsuitable for human consumption," said Jim Wakeford, 58, an AIDS patient in Gibsons, B.C. "It gave me a slight buzziness for about three to five minutes, and that was it. I got no other effect from it."
Barrie Dalley, a 52-year-old Toronto man who uses marijuana to combat the nausea associated with AIDS, said the Health Canada dope actually made him sick to his stomach.
"I threw up," Dalley said Monday. "It made me nauseous because I had to use so much of it. It was so weak in potency that I really threw up."
Both men are returning their 30-gram bags, and Dalley is demanding his money back - $150 plus taxes. Wakeford is returning his unpaid bill for two of the bags with a letter of complaint.
The government dope also came under fire Monday from Canadians for Safe Access, a patients' rights group that is pressing for supplies of safe, effective marijuana.
Laboratory tests indicate the Health Canada product has only about three per cent THC - not the 10.2 per cent advertised - and contains contaminants such as lead and arsenic...

Socialism? The people are paying for it, at a profitable rate, and it's weak and poisonous. Sounds just like the low end of a capitalist black market. permanent link #
