New Florida vote scandal - By Greg Palast [BBC]
Uglier all the time:
A secret document obtained from inside Bush campaign headquarters in Florida suggests a plan - possibly in violation of US law - to disrupt voting in the state's African-American voting districts, a BBC Newsnight investigation reveals.
Two e-mails, prepared for the executive director of the Bush campaign in Florida and the campaign's national research director in Washington DC, contain a 15-page so-called "caging list".
It lists 1,886 names and addresses of voters in predominantly black and traditionally Democrat areas of Jacksonville, Florida.
An elections supervisor in Tallahassee, when shown the list, told Newsnight: "The only possible reason why they would keep such a thing is to challenge voters on election day." more

Madison, WI – The Kerry-Edwards campaign announced today that rock legend Bruce Springsteen will hit the campaign trail for the Kerry-Edwards ticket in the closing days of the 2004 campaign.
Springsteen will join John Kerry at campaign rallies in Madison, WI, and Columbus, OH, on Thursday, October 28th, and join the Democratic nominee for an election-eve rally in Cleveland, OH, on November 1st.

Voter registration is no longer the issue. It's all about getting out the vote. The Boss will be great for that. Bring him on.

Why I believe in our president
I believe in President George W. Bush. I've always believed him.
I believe the president invaded Iraq to secure liberty and democracy for the Iraqi people. I believe he had compelling evidence that Iraq was a significant threat to America and the world, and presented that evidence in a complete and balanced manner. Like 42 percent of Americans – and 62 percent of Republicans – I believe Saddam Hussein was involved in the September 11 attacks.
[snip]
I believe the president was right to oppose the formation of the 9/11 Commission, to change his mind but then oppose fully funding it, to change his mind but then oppose granting its request for an extension, to change his mind but refuse to testify for more than an hour, to change his mind but then testify alongside Vice President Dick Cheney so long as transcripts and note-taking were prohibited. I believe the investigation into the Abu Ghraib prison scandal shows it was the fault of a handful of misguided underlings who simply misunderstood a memo signed by the Secretary of Defense which authorized the use of dogs to interrogate prisoners. more believing
You just gotta BELIEVE!

XL-size TERROR-izing Free Dick Cheney pumpkin-head paper mask
After I cut mine out, I decided it was too small for my big old face, so I cut off the top stem and resized the graphic to 120%. Much better fit now. When you go to the link don't print the web page but save the large image to print. Then, when you print, tell the printer to "fit to page". If you still want the smaller one with the stem, go here.
TERROR-ize everyone you come upon. Good year-round, and All Set for Halloween with this Free Dick Cheney pumpkin-head paper mask I made. Prints out adult-size to a full 8 x 11 sheet. It's a bit raggedy but will get the job done, especially in the night. Prints fine in grey scale too. You can always reduce the print size for the little kids! Paste onto a piece of card stock, cut along the dotted lines, tie a string to the sides, try it on, figure out what to do about eye holes. Just don't poke them with the mask on!

ReThugs trying to block voters [AlterNet]
GOP Disrupts the Ohio Vote
By Laura Flanders, Air America Radio
You know what the Republicans are up to?
The party of pre-emptive war is trying to pre-empt democracy.
They couldn't find any weapons of mass destruction, now they're trying to manufacture weapons of mass disruption ... to disqualify likely Democrats from voting.
It's all over the news. In Ohio, the state Republican Party has challenged the eligibility of 35,000 newly registered voters. ... It's necessary they say, to prevent fraud in a state where polls show President Bush and John F. Kerry are in a statistical tie. Most of the 35,000, you'll not be surprised to hear, live in urban, which is to say, multi-racial, which is to say, Democratic, areas.
[snip]
Officials in other swing states, from Arizona to Wisconsin and Florida, say they are bracing for the same thing. It's all part of an organized effort by Republicans to challenge new voters at the polls.
In Philadelphia, Republican operatives made a last ditch attempt Friday to relocate 63 polling places – many of them in Black neighborhoods – all of them in districts where Democrats have an advantage ... luckily the move came too late ... but it's a sign of the times – the Bush and Cheney crew are freaked. more
