Mobile development is hot. I spent most of my time working with ISVs who are developing (or have developed) mobile solutions.

This year, we will be running the Mobile DevCon, this time in Sydney on April 20 2004. Last year's event in Melbourne was really well attended, so we are keen to see all you mobile developers get along to this free one-day event.

The prolific Dr Neil Roodyn continues to develop handy tools. This time he has posted a taster for his SMS Utilities.

I believe that you should design a web site to look good for IE5.5 and above. I am not saying totally forget about Netscape but dont spend much time or money on it. The reason is that only 3-4% of users surf the web with Netscape. The problem stems from the limitations of different web browsers. The big Netscape and Internet Explorer debate still continues but the reality is that Netscape just cannot provide many of the features that Internet Explorer can. More

This got me thinking about the whole browser war. To be honest, I think it's time to move on -- it's not just about the browsers. This debate is raging at the moment on a number of sites.

As much as it pains me, I wont be attending the PDC in LA this year. Yes it's true. I wont be there, but my team is over there and they will be part of this event, attending these sessions.

im sitting here in the qantas airport lounge, next to adam cogan. teched is over for another year. i've said goodbye to a bunch of speakers(bye datagrid girl & dr peter), as they head off to new zealand for the next leg of the teched tour.

the final keynote finished with a lightshow and dancing girls -- just what we needed after 3 days of technical content

now back to 'normal' life.

im one of the proctors for the hands-on lab at teched. there are 26 self paced labs, which range from 30 minutes to 90 minutes.

i'm covering the developer labs - and there's heaps of different ones to try out -- if you are in brisbane, come on by. i'm the guy in the loud flowery shirt.
