About the Author

 

Paul Wormeli is Executive Director of the Integrated Justice Information Systems Institute, which is a non-profit organization formed by the companies who serve the law enforcement and justice field.  The IJIS Institute has as its mission to harness the technological knowledge and experience of industry to help state and local governments facilitate information sharing.   

 

He was the first Chairman of the Integrated Justice Information Systems Industry Working Group, a consortium of over 100 companies convened by the U. S. Department of Justice to advise its Office of Justice Programs on issues related to information sharing initiatives.  He also serves as Chairman of the GJXDM Training and Technical Assistance Committee (GTTAC), a consortium of service providers who work together to teach developers how to use the Global Justice XML Data Model.

 

Paul began his career in public safety and criminal justice technology in 1967, and was appointed as the first National Director of Project Search, which became Search Group, Inc.  He was then the recipient of a Presidential appointment as Deputy Administrator of the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, during which time he served on the President’s Drug Enforcement Committee.  Paul has published extensively and is a recognized lecturer on information technology topics related to public safety and integrated justice.

 

Paul has his BS degree in Electronics Engineering from the University of New Mexico and his Master of Engineering Administration from the George Washington University.  He was also engaged in graduate studies at Stanford University in Engineering-Economic Systems, an Honors program for Industry.
