This sucks.
Oh, maude.
I simply do not have the time to do the intense reading to verify this analysis, but if true as presented, this friggin' sucks!
Evidently the Dept of Labor is rewriting labor regulations such that employers will not necessarily have to pay overtime rates to folks who work overtime. According to the ACLU:
New analysis shows millions could lose overtime pay, possibly including firefighters, police officers, nurses, retail clerks, certain medical technicians, military reservists, tech workers and many, many more. Under the Bush plan, you still may be forced to work overtime hours—but you might not be paid for the extra hours.
Please read this article and follow the link to let the Bush Administration know how you feel about this. The Department of Labor is accepting public comment until Monday June 30th.

James Lileks has a midly amusing column on "nerf" curses ... you know, fake cuss words you can use in polite [or preschool] company.
I just wanted to note my personal favorite: "Frigga-Frack" -- used as an exclamation of anger, frustration or pain, in place of more familiar and less socially acceptable curses.
In a related vein, I have also started using "maude" in place of "man" as in "Maude, it's hot." I am not sure why but was seeing it used by some pretty rad feminists on message boards and I kind of liked it. It started to come out naturally while I was writing on-line.
