On Wednesday was held the Georgia High School Grad Test in Writing, one of five parts that students must pass before earning a diploma. As with many writing tests, students are given a prompt and are expected to write a persuasive essay. The prompt this time around asked the students to select an influential teacher in their school and nominate him or her for the Educator-of-the-Year award and give reasons and support for their nomination. Guess what? All six om my students taking the test nominated me. And if I must say so myself, some of them gave some thoroughly convincing arguments : ). I began class the next day with my acceptance speech....
