Wow the MT with enhanced SocialDynamX seems to be generating controversy

Adam Kalsey:

They?re also ripping off the MT design. I suppose if you are doing a tool for Movalbe Type it makes sense to make the design familiar, but a straight copy seems like a bad idea. And what if MT changes the design?

MT users seem to be passionate about MT, so isn't it natural to give a client app that looks like MT rather than using a Microsoft COM control UI? Doesn't seem like you have control at all of what the UI looks like.

So did SDX "rip off" Radio brand, no, FM Radio is Radio branded. It's for Radio Users. MT with enhanced SocialDynamX is the same idea. It's for MT users who are used to the MT web UI. Did you rip off the Redmond gray design?

If MT changes the UI, so what, SDX can create an updated skin, or better yet, a cadre of skins for user preference.

You can?t edit previous posts with FM Radio, so I?d imagine that you won?t be able to do that with the MT version either.
Dude, wrong again, you can edit previous posts in FM Radio.

Their screenshot shows a very Radio-centric blogging tool with a specific link field, title, no extended entries, categories, or comment settings.
It's a first gen product, more to come.

So am I concerned? Not in the least.
Yeah, sit back and relax. :)

Eclecticism:

First impression? Ugh, that's horrid.

Now, I'm a little unclear from looking at their site as to whether that's a replacment for the default MT interface that you see in your web browser (as is implied by the term "skin"), or whether it's a seperate standalone program for posting to MT (such as Kung-Log, UserSpace or Zempt). If it's a standalone program, then okay, it's most likely Windows-based, and the horrid ugly interface makes sense. But if it's a "skin" designed to replace the standard MT interface within the browser — why is it so verschluggene ugly?

[scoblizer]:

Social Dynamix is doing a custom skin for Moveable Type. I'm playing with their FM Radio product for Radio UserLand. It's awesome.
