We do have a great majority >85% (which includes a portion of our rising 6th grade parents). Parents in the majority are appalled at the tactics of the few parents who are trying to cause dissention and disruption. The ten percent of the parents who are in opposition have a history of changing policy in their favor even though they are in the minority. Although they have been told that the majority of parents at Aycock are in favor and have been shown the statistics, they have openly denied acceptance of this and said that it is the districts or boards final decision. They place no value on the school communities’ decision and as far as I have seen, the district and/or the board have not reinforced the school communities’ decision. Therefore, they see a silver lining and they will keep pushing.
The email below is representative of the feelings of our parents who are in the majority.
