ET on Mars

The Rover on Mars today is getting about as much press as the Middle East. On Google News, there are some 400 references to it. That means it is a pretty slow news day. When something really happens, there are usually well over a thousand references to any large news event. In any case, it is in the press and on everyones mind if only just a little. I've got a hunch that something big is about to occur. Here is my scenario.

NASA landed the craft in a flat area that may have once been full of water. As they mosey about looking under rocks and through the soils imagine their utter surprise if a broken seashell should suddenly come clearly into view. The image would have already been transmitted. If they released it… what next? There would of course be some scientific inquiry into whether or not it was just an optical problem, something formed from erosion, wind, meteorites, or what have you. The obvious truth to most would be that indeed, life exists beyond Earth. The implications would be enormous and already well documented elsewhere.

I think that their expectations and hopes are pinned on maybe finding some trace chemicals or other microscopic signs that water may have once existed. For whatever reason I can't explain, I suspect they will find an undisputable fossil. I've found them to be plentiful when walking along a beach. Remember, you heard it hear first. :)
