Schadenfreude

Who should apologize for the Kerry/Edwards loss? Should it be the candidate himself, not exactly a stirring orator or genial personality? Should it be his running mate John Edwards who appeared feeble on the trail and couldn’t carry one state? Campaign manager Bob Shrum – now 0 for 8 in presidential runs himself – may also be required tpo do some explaining as to how Any-body-but-Bush could have lost. All these men had key roles in the election and could be seen as partly repsonsible to other Democrats for the outcome. But should average Democrats apologize? Many of them, it turns out, think so.

At Sorryeverbody.com thousands of Dems have sent in their images and words, often scribbled upon cardboard, of apology for the election. And to whom are they asking forgiveness? Why the rest of the planets populace, obviously. Now that the election is over, I shall put aside all the obvious critiques of liberals bowing to "world test(s)" and the U.N., and simply delight in the misery of others. Rather than point out the idiocy of Americans apologizing to Germans, Argentines, and Russians for the results of a free election, lets instead sit back, relax, and delight in the agony of the feckless French, the despotic Russians, and every other commie, hippie, and Islamic fundamentalist that opposed a Bush reelection. So, to the rest of the world, let me say with all sincerity in my best Nelson voice say "ha ha". Such is the hedonistic luxury of victory.
