Still no ToDo list, well it's on paper but fluid. Maybe I'll find another way of handling all the jobs. Running gites still seems to be very re-active. There is alot of planning but things keep cropping up. The quick plumbing job for a friend with a holiday home turned out to be all day. Not convinced holiday homes are a great idea. Most owners seem to spend thier visits doing gardening or DIY (or getting a friend to do it :-)). Trying to organize tradesmen in a foreign country when you are on a tight schedule is not ideal. Good opertunity here for a English speaking handyman.

This week caroline has had a friend over for a few days, which helps to remind me about why we left England. It's been good having her and her reminding us to chill out. There's loads of trivial niggles that have been stressing me out before the start of the season, but in reality they are no big deal at all.

Tomorrow I plan to sort out what I think is a minor blockage (scale ?) in the hot water supply/tank. Another plumbing job, but necessary if we want a trouble free services. Make sure the basics work and are safe.

Fantastic lunch today at the new resturant in Evran, 3 courses + wine and coffee for less than 10 euros. Will return.

Hectic morning and a hectic week ahead getting ready for Easter. I'm helping a friend with some plumbing, which is a minor distraction but not a problem. French plumbing, there's a cue for a story.

Finished all the work in Cerise gite, started laying new gravel out the front and finally finished all my logging ready for next year. Well deserved curry tonight. Huge ToDo list, but I'll plod through it.

I've decided to make this blog, less like a diary but an account of running a Gite business. The change to France and the ongoing events in the summer (with guests) and winter (work, maintenance etc.)

Usual chaotic breakfast, but the kids have left for school. Bit frosty outside this morning so start with the internal jobs. Work through the todo list, well infact write the todo list !

Clocks went forward last night. I always get confused, especially when you have one eye on another timezone. Brings to mind the Douglas Adams quote, 'Time is an illusion, lunchtime doubley so'. Nice long lunch BTW, roast pork all the trimmings, wine, apple pie.

Good day on the beach (Dinard) with the kids this morning and discovered the new road from Pleutuit to Dinan. Saves a few minutes.

Almost finished tiding up the copiced hazel ready for next winter. Log shed building nicely. About 3 cords.

Will spend the rest of the evening reading the Radio manual.
