Berlind's Media Transparency Channel
If you're looking for my podcasts, please read What to do if you're looking for my series of podcasts on IT Matters. Otherwise, read on.

This blog is now a part of my experiment in media transparency. The premise is that if the media can broadcast polished edited content through one channel like ZDNet, then why can't it also broadcast a parallel channel that's full of the raw materials (thus, this "channel"). For a much more detailed explanation, be sure to check out the following:In case you're interested, maintaining a simplistic transparency channel like this one has so far involved a significant amount of heavy lifting. The core technology may exist, but it's my opinion that a decent UI for publishing a transparency channel does not. So, one outgrowth of this experiment might be a complete specification for such a system -- Something I call JOTS.

Raw Data: cc: of email to Userland CEO regarding review of Radio

David,

I am sorry to hear that you have been asked to move and I hope you didn't get into any trouble. Anyway, I appreciate your keeping the site active and we will extend the trial for as long as you think necessary. Just let everyone know that UserLand's past practice has always been to extend trial periods for product reviews if requested. I am cc'ing our customer support person (Lawrence Lee) to do just that. Also, I will not send the book.

Scott,

They've activated enclosure support for our Wordpress system.. Not for all ZDNet's blogs yet. I've been asked to stop posting on the Radio prototype and to move my podcasts over to the ZDNet domain. In the interests of reviewing the product however, I'm going to keep the site active and keep digging and writing about my experience with the product on ZDNet (example).

This will require a longer term demo (longer than 30 days), if that can be arranged. At the end of the review period, if I choose to keep the blog going for whatever reasons (perhaps for my personal blog), I will gladly pay the $40/year. Also, as I said in my coverage, please DO NOT send me the book.
