Ready for some D-versification?

This is a poem which I wrote in June of 2006.

Now I'm wondering whether the quote about the "required daily minimum of poetry" would fit well as an epigraph to this poem.

Don't Know Much About Deuteronomy

If it is almost time for your next dose,
skip the missed dose, and resume your normal dosing schedule.
Do not "double-up" on the dose.

With a hey, down, down,

My erstwhile employer desires me to inform you
that its deep, dark secrets
are none of your damn business.
Do, please, consider it done.

with a ho, down, down,

Do not forsake me, oh my darling.

hey down!

Don't even dream about it.

ho down!

"What, exactly, does 'doo-wah-diddy' mean?"

derry, derry, down,

Don't ask; don't tell ...

among the leaves so green-o.

Edit: originally, as posted on April 2, the second sentence (preceding the title of the poem itself) had the word "epigram". A week later, I corrected this to "epigraph".

The previous entry, You can't get there from here, is a poem of sorts, so putting it together led me to remember the following [approximate] quote: "Studies show that most Americans are not getting their required daily minimum of poetry."

I wish I could remember where I read that, or where it came from, originally. Can anybody help me out with that?
