Kay Weber (of Weber v Fermilab fame) pointed me to this recently. I don't know how you all feel about it, but it makes Kay and me want to projectile vomit through cyberspace onto whichever dumbasses decided to give Fermilab those awards. Obviously the Society of Women Engineers didn't actually ask the female engineers at Fermilab how they felt about working there because I personally have yet to meet a female there who is not in senior management who seems to think Fermilab is the cat's pyjamas as far as female-friendly workplaces go. And don't even get me started on Fermilab's track record for using women with children as slave labor (literally...see my post The utterly screwed up field that is particle physics). I wrote to the SWE today to give them my views on how shockingly inappropriate that award is.
Oh, and if the award for "excelling in human resources practices" means that they are recognizing the fact that the human resources Equity office does a superb job of protecting Fermilab's ass by totally sticking it to any female who dares to complain, then Fermilab does in fact deserve that award.
